Welcome to The Dossier ("we", "us"). The Dossier is a free service that lets you follow fine artists and get an email when one of them has a gallery or museum show in Los Angeles. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Questions go to hello@thedossier.art.

What The Dossier is

The Dossier gathers exhibition information from galleries, museums, and public sources and presents it alongside short editorial descriptions. We work to keep it accurate, but show dates, hours, titles, and details can change or be wrong. Always confirm with the gallery or museum before you make plans. The service is provided free and as a convenience, and we may change or discontinue features at any time.

Your account

Provide an accurate email address and keep your account details up to date.
You are responsible for activity under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to use The Dossier.

Acceptable use

When using The Dossier, you agree not to:

Break the law or infringe anyone's rights.
Scrape, copy, or harvest the site or its data in bulk, or place an unreasonable load on it.
Impersonate others, or post content that is harassing, hateful, deceptive, or invades someone's privacy.
Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you create on The Dossier, such as your profile, folders, lists, and notes. By posting content and choosing to make it public, you grant us a limited license to display it as part of the service. You are responsible for the content you add, and we may remove content that breaks these terms. If you make a profile or folder public, others can see it.

Artwork, images, and exhibition information

Artwork images, exhibition listings, and related materials belong to the respective artists, galleries, museums, and rights holders. They appear on The Dossier for informational and editorial purposes only, and their appearance does not imply any endorsement. If you are an artist, gallery, or rights holder and want something credited differently or removed, email us and we will handle it promptly.

The Dossier name, brand, and the design of the site are ours. Please do not use them without permission.

Third-party links

The Dossier links to galleries, museums, and other websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.

No warranty

The Dossier is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the information is accurate, complete, or current, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Dossier and the people behind it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the service or from relying on information shown, including a missed or incorrect show listing.

Ending your use

You can stop using The Dossier and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or to protect the service and the people using it.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date above, and continued use of the service means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
